These are the terms for using PlazaScreen, a service run by HoangCore LLC. Using the service means you accept them. We've tried to write them the way we'd want to read them.
PlazaScreen lets you build a "board" — a page of widgets such as the wifi details, a clock, the weather, a countdown, messages and photos from your guests — and show it full-screen on a TV or any browser. You set it up from a phone or computer. The board is reachable at an unguessable link, and optionally on a TV you pair with a code.
You need a working email address, and you must confirm it before the account can be used. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. If you invite other people, you're responsible for what they do with the boards you give them.
You must be at least 18, or old enough to enter a contract where you live if that's younger. Guests don't need an account to send a message or a photo, but the service isn't meant for children under 13, and a board you hang somewhere children will use is yours to supervise.
Most of this is obvious. It's here plainly because it's the part we'd have to point at if something went wrong. Don't:
If you find a board doing any of this, tell us at abuse@plazascreen.com.
Your content stays yours. We don't claim ownership of anything you upload, we don't use it to train anything, and we don't sell it to anyone.
We do need your permission to run the service, so you give us one: the right to store what you upload, re-encode it, make the display copy and the thumbnail a board needs, and show it on the screens you point at that board. It is limited to operating the service for you. It isn't exclusive, neither of us pays the other for it, and the only people we can pass it to are the providers named in the privacy notice that store and deliver the files. It ends when you delete the content or close your account. You confirm you have the right to give it — for a photo with other people in it, that means their permission too.
Guests give us the same narrow permission when they send a message or a photo, and we say so on the page where they send it.
You choose the feeds a board shows, like the news or blog posts on a headlines widget, and you must have the right to display them. We don't suggest any: many publishers' terms don't allow showing their feed in a business, so check before you add one.
You're responsible for what's on your boards, including anything your guests send. The tools to deal with that are built in: guest messages and photos wait for your approval by default, you can turn guest posting off entirely, and you can reject anything at any time. If content on a board is unlawful or abusive and you won't deal with it, we may remove it or suspend the board.
A board shows a wifi password if you put one there. That's the point of the product, but it means the board's link is a secret worth keeping. You can regenerate the link at any time, set a viewer password, and have the wifi come off the screen automatically when your event ends.
If something on a board is yours and shouldn't be there, tell us and we'll take it down. Email our copyright agent at copyright@plazascreen.com with the work you're talking about, a link to the board or the photo, how to reach you, a line saying you believe in good faith that it isn't authorized, a line saying what you've told us is accurate and that you own it or speak for the owner, and your name as a signature.
If we take something of yours down and you think we got it wrong, send a counter-notice to the same address with the same details and we'll pass it on. Accounts that keep infringing get closed.
HoangCore LLC is registered as a service provider with the United States Copyright Office under DMCA-1080796, and our designated agent for these notices is reachable at copyright@plazascreen.com. Please send takedown notices there rather than to our general address — it's the one we watch for them.
Prices are in US dollars. Tax is added where we're required to collect it. Payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
Paid plans are available to customers in the United States. Pro and the Event Pass are sold to US customers only for now, and a payment made with a card or billing address outside the United States will be declined. The free plan has no such limit — you can use a free board from anywhere. If that changes we'll say so here first.
Adding a seat or a live board part-way through a month is charged for the part you use; removing one credits your next invoice. Stripe works out the proration.
Pro renews itself until you stop it. It's a monthly subscription: we charge the card on file every month, on the day of the month you started, at the price shown when you subscribed. There's no minimum term and no cancellation fee. You cancel from the billing page: one button takes you to Stripe, where you confirm it. You never have to email anyone or ask us to do it for you, and Pro runs to the end of the month you've already paid for. If we ever change the price we'll email you first, and it would only apply from a renewal after that. The Event Pass is a single charge: it doesn't renew and there's nothing to cancel.
Cancel Pro whenever you like. It keeps working to the end of the month you've paid for, then the account goes back to Free.
Nothing is deleted when you downgrade. Boards beyond the Free allowance are paused rather than removed, with their layout, widgets, messages and photos kept exactly as they were. Pro widgets stop appearing on the TV but keep their settings. Turn Pro back on and everything comes back as it was.
If a payment fails, your boards keep running untouched for 14 days while we and Stripe try again. We'll email the account's admins. Nothing about the payment ever appears on the TV.
We don't automatically refund part-months, because you had the service for that time. That said, if something went wrong on our end — the service was broken when you needed it, or you were charged for something you didn't get — email billing@plazascreen.com and we'll sort it out. We'd rather refund someone than argue with them.
You can close your account yourself at any time, and export everything on it first. Closing suspends it immediately: boards go dark and paired TVs go back to a pairing code. Everything is permanently deleted 30 days later, and until then you can change your mind with one tap.
We work hard to keep boards up, but we don't promise the service will never be unavailable. It runs on shared hosting and depends on other people's services — your internet, your TV, your wifi, the weather provider, YouTube, Stripe. We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we're not liable for an evening that didn't go to plan.
That paragraph is the honest version. The one below is the same thing in the words the law wants it said in, and we'd rather set it out plainly than bury it.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that any defect will be corrected. Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of this may not apply to you, and nothing here limits any warranty that cannot legally be disclaimed.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.
The other way round: if someone brings a claim against us over what you or your guests put on a board — a photo you didn't have the right to use, a message that defamed somebody, a board used to break the law — you'll cover what it costs us to deal with it, including reasonable legal fees. If that ever happens we'll tell you promptly, let you take over the defense if you want it, and we won't settle anything in your name without asking you.
We may suspend or close an account that's being used to break these terms or the law, or that's putting the service at risk for everyone else. Where it's reasonable to warn you first, we will.
We may update these terms as the product changes. If a change materially affects you, we'll email the account's admins before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version. Old versions are available on request.
If PlazaScreen is ever sold, merged into another company, or moved as part of a restructuring, these terms and your account move with it — that is the only way a service carries on under new ownership rather than simply closing. We'll email the account's admins before it happens. Whoever takes it on is bound by these terms and by the privacy notice as they stand until they give you notice of a change, and if you don't like that change you can close your account and take your data with you.
You can't hand your account to somebody else without asking us first — but you never need to, because you can add, remove and change the people who use it from your team settings whenever you like.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts there. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
